Meet Ashleigh Strickland Long

Ashleigh Long is proud to have grown up in Citronelle having community minded leaders and impactful mentors throughout her life. She is an inspirational mother of two daughters demonstrating success and happiness as family goals. Her oldest daughter, Jaynie, is currently attending Harvard University pursuing a degree concentration in Government with the ultimate goal of a Law Degree. Daughter, Olivia, is 12 years old and attends Saraland Middle School. Olivia excels as an honors student while still making time to serve as an active leader in various clubs and sports.

At the age of 19, Ashleigh began studies in administration and science studies at Bishop State Community College. During her studies, she was hired by the Mobile Districts Attorney’s office. Under the leadership of former District Attorney John Tyson in the Mobile District Attorney’s Office cultivating her realization of a brooder love and commitment  with the criminal justice system and decided to pursue a life-long career with the District Attorney’s office. During her tenure at the DA’s office, she has worked in the financial department and was eventually promoted in 2011 by former DA Ashley Rich to Supervisor of the Financial Departments.

Ashleigh is currently a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Saraland. She is also an active member of the Azalea City Women’s Republican Club. As a former St. Jude patient, Ashleigh is on the Board of Miracles on the Bay which participate and organize many of the local St. Jude Children’s Hospital Events in the Mobile and Baldwin County areas. When not working or volunteering with various charities and city-wide programs, you can find her at a softball field, soccer field, or volleyball court watching her daughter play sports.

Ashleigh and her family made the decision for her to run for Mobile County Circuit Court Clerk so that she can build upon her 18 years of courtroom/judicial/law enforcement experience to make Mobile a better place to live and raise a family. During her career at the courthouse, she has always supported law enforcement and our first responders and has previously served as a volunteer fire fighter with Oak Grove Fire Department.

As your next Circuit Court Clerk, Ashleigh will continue to work alongside the people that make up our entire Court system. The relationships she has nurtured during her career will help build a stronger Court system for all Mobilians. During the Covid pandemic, Ashleigh navigated the complex influx of cases that backlogged the system. She truly understands how the system works and how it can be changed for the better. She will work hard to find and implement the most updated technology to assist the Clerk’s office staff with managing cases.

Additionally, she will use her professional relationships to uncover additional funding to support existing staff with a competitive salary, additional education and a better work environment. Ashleigh will also make sure that the Clerk’s office maintains a positive and professional work environment for the employees and everyone who lives in Mobile County. Ashleigh enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and listening to live music.
